3 Bedrooms • 3 Bathrooms 3 Baths • Sleeps 1-8This is our real, actual home, and we only rent it while we're away. We use only EWG (Environmental Working Group) top-certified toiletries and cleaning supplies to keep ourselves, and your family, healthy and safe.
The townhouse is 1,500 square feet, and it has a comfortable, cabin feel. We just finished a year of renovating, so everything works great and looks fresh and clean.
Please note that when you book you are agreeing to all of our House Rules, so please find and read those under House Rules here.
We brought all of our favorite furniture and artwork from our previous house in Los Angeles. The main level is a great room, with a big dining area opening onto the living room. The living room features a big southeast window with a view of trees and mountains outside. There are two large sofas, a 55” HD television with cable, Roku, and Netflix, plus my dad’s mahogany desk if you need to get some work done. You can even connect the monitor to your laptop, if you wish. The internet Wifi connection is very, very fast.
The working fireplace is clad in stone, and a there's a cord of wood on the upstairs outside deck—half hardwood that burns hot and long and half pine that’s easy to start a fire with. If you want to use the fireplace, you may want to pick up some fire-starter at the hardware store.
Downstairs are two large bedrooms, each with en suite full bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed, two dressers, a bench, a large modern TV with Max and Netflix, and a bathroom with shower. All three bathrooms have new forced-air heaters.
The guest bedroom has an antique solid walnut canopy queen bed, a large smart Roku TV with Max and Netflix, a marble-topped antique dresser, a big clothes closet, and a bathroom with tub/shower.
We’ve listed our home as three bedrooms because the loft has a queen bed plus two twin bunk beds. It serves as a third bedroom that can accommodate parents with two kids. It also features a large Smart Roku TV with Max and Netflix, plus a lovely blue leather sofa that came from our last house. The bathroom with shower on the main level serves as both powder room and loft bathroom.
We sleep in the loft during the winter, because we can see the sun gently coming up in the east from the living room windows. In summer, we move down to the guest bedroom, because the ground floor keeps about 10 degrees cooler than the outside in summer. Of course, it averages about 75 F here in summer, so a hot day is maybe 85 F. We don't have AC, because we've never needed it. Keep the big living room window shade and the balcony window shade closed in summer so they don't generate too much heat.
It rarely rains in the summer, but winter is a different matter…Mammoth has the most snow, the longest ski season, the biggest mountain…all of that good stuff. The storms bring beautiful powder days.
The full kitchen is equipped with a range, microwave, dishwasher, disposal, coffee maker, popcorn maker, toaster, blender, electric kettle, French press, cast iron skillets, pots and pans and good knives.
There is a full-sized laundry on the ground floor with a large washer and a brand-new large LG dryer.
Nearly all the paintings are originals; the ones that aren’t are signed lithographs by Chagall and others. The bronzes are originals, and the floors are covered with antique hand-knotted Persian rugs.
Outside amenities: The hot tub and sauna are near to our unit, plus a very pretty swimming pool that’s heated in summer. The grounds are nicely landscaped and green...they're under snow in winter. On the front porch there’s a closet with a rack to hold skis and poles.
You can park up to two vehicles in the outdoor parking lot. Unlike most condo complexes where you must park underground, then drag your suitcases through a dark garage, up stairs, then walk down a long corridor to get to the door—you park only about 30 feet from our front door.
We picked this complex not only because it’s super quiet and surrounded by pine trees, but also because it’s only a half-block from the center of town. That’s where you’ll find the Von’s supermarket and pharmacy, the town movie theater, Carl’s Junior, and Giovanni's, the best pizza parlor in town, etc. Another half block down Meridian Blvd. is the Mammoth Lakes Business Center and Domino’s Pizza. You can walk to pretty much whatever we need.
Transportation: At the edge of the driveway is the shuttle stop for Eagle Lodge, and on the corner at Old Mammoth Road is the #8 Red Line shuttle stop to get to the Village or the Main Lodge.
If you're looking for cross country skiing, it's easy to get a shuttle to Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center. Or walk/ drive over to Shady Rest Park, where there are miles and miles of free groomed cross-country trails maintained by the City.
Restaurants: The center of town is half a block away—the corner of Old Mammoth Road and Meridian. Most restaurants are walking distance...Mogul, Jimmy’s Taverna, Red Lantern Inn, The Stove, Giovanni’s Pizza, Blue, the Tavern, Delicious Kitchen, Thai’d Up, Salsa’s Taqueria, Roberto’s Mexican Restaurant, and Mammoth Rock’n’Bowl and Brasserie.
We welcome you to book with us. We know you’ll love your stay and come back to us next time.
